Young Children's Dance Program

A creative approach to dance education for the 18 month- 7 year old teaching body placement,coordination and classroom skills while  promoting creativity and expressive movement. A progressive syllabus is taught, according to the young child's mental, physical and social development.  Basic concepts of the body in space and rhythmical movement are taught in a gender neutral manner trusting the child to learn concepts, integrate them  and  dance independently with imagination, grace and strength. All classes are kept small to optimize learning in an  individualized setting. Required class attire may be purchased through, Ballet slippers (for correct sizing) and tights may be purchased at the studio. 

Baby Ballet

An introduction to the world of dance for ages 18 months to 3 years. The child  with a parent will explore dance, rhythms, and music through imaginative stories, songs  and activities. Any movement friendly  (and fun!) attire is appropriate.

Five Week Sessions, $45 per session (Tuition is separate from family rates.)

Saturdays 9-9:45 am

Session One Autumn Leaves: Sept. 21-Oct. 19   

Session Two Holiday Magic: Oct. 26- Nov.  23

Session Three Winter Wonderland: Jan.11-Feb. 15

Session Four World Cruise: Feb 22-March 21

Session Five Animal Friends: March 28-  May 2

The instructor, Annmarie Carlson Drake, has a BFA from Butler University with a dance major, music and drama minors,  and a certificate in Early Childhood Music from the Frankfurt Musikhochschule.

Creative Movement

A developmentally appropriate class for the 3 to 5 year old child, focusing on motor development, coordination and listening skills.  Classroom etiquette is taught, and  the concepts of warming up and stretching.  Elements common to all dance forms will be learned, varied and mastered. Structured movement patterns  along with free expressive dance build cognitive and motor skills while fostering creativity. An imaginative and  joyful introduction to formal dance training.

Winter Session: January  11 to Feb. 29 (8 weeks)  $70 

Spring Session: March 7- May 16 (10 weeks) $ 90

(Tuition is separate from family rates, second sibling receives $10 off tuition)


A child-centered introduction  for 6-8 year olds  to the discipline of classical ballet. Basic ballet and contemporary dance techniques are introduced with French vocabulary and classical music.  Musicality and self-expression continue to be a focus for this age group.
