Contemporary Dance - is inspired by both classical ballet and modern dance. It takes technical elements and body control from classical ballet, increasing the range of motion and use of level. Its ideas and concepts come from the innovators of twentieth century modern dance: Martha Graham, Doris Humphrey, Paul Taylor, etc., and choreographers such as Pina Bausch, William Forsythe and Twyla Tharp who have expanded on the movement of essentially classically trained dancers. Movement concepts and creativity will also be explored through improvisational exercises.
